"In my 40 years as a touring musician, I've learned that theaters are great places to practice the exciting yet frightening act of getting up on stage in front of an audience. I know that there is a heavy red curtain that drowns out the rumor of the outside world and its endless news; that there is an audience that has carefully prepared for this rendezvous and brings the most precious of possessions: their attention! I?ve long aspired to spend more time than a single evening at a concert; to stay and work with the crew of one of these great, firmly anchored ships, in the heart of one of these marvelous machines, these ships of dreams. The people were welcoming, curious and attentive? And they offered to put down my luggage, my songs, the lyrics of my friends Philippe Djian and Martin Suter, my first synth bought in 1980, a dusty drum machine, a guitar bought straight out of a music store a stone's throw from the theater?
