A fishing village until the mid-20th century, it really took off with the arrival of the first bathers and the railroad in 1887. The pebble industry developed at the same time, and is still exported worldwide today. Today, with its 2.6 km of boardwalks and 520 beach huts, Cayeux-sur-Mer has established itself as a seaside, water sports and nature resort.
