Jardins de la Baie de Somme : Herbarium, Fruticetum, Rues Fleuries

At the end of the flowered alleys, a sweet visit awaits you: the Herbarium des Remparts. Push open the door (through which a curious eye often slips) to discover the wonders of this garden: rare and ancient vegetables alongside aromatic and medicinal plants. Sniff...

About

The Herbarium, an enclosure surrounded by flint and pebble walls, dominates the medieval city walls. On entering it, one discovers a formidable "orderly" jumble of ancient medieval plants. A garden more botanical than ornamental, which will please the novice as well as the connoisseur!
The Fruticetum offers a contemporary reading of medieval gardens. The colour echoes the "Waide": a precious dyeing plant in the Middle Ages.
The flowery streets of the village form, with the Herbarium and the Fruticetum, "the gardens of the Bay", and make Saint-Valery-sur-Somme a peaceful invitation to stroll.
