The surreal, poetic story of an idealistic, inventive young man, Colin, who meets Chloé, a young woman who seems to be the embodiment of a Duke Ellington blues. Their idyllic marriage turns bitter when Chloé falls ill with a water lily growing in her lung. To pay for her care, Colin has to work under increasingly absurd conditions in a fantasy Paris, while their apartment deteriorates and their group of friends, including the talented Nicolas and Chick, a fanatic of philosopher Jean-Sol Partre, disintegrates.
